GW- Can you tell us about yoursel?
Emarcy- Allow me to
start with the Islamic greetings Assalamu Alaikum. Well My Names are Yakubu
Isah but popularly known as "Isah Emarcy". Studying Agric Engineering from
the Federal university of technology Minna and am from Minna, Niger state.
GW - What inspired The Name Isah Emarcy?
Emarcy- Well the
origin of that name was from my secondary school, used to be called
"Morocco" by my friends back in the days because of my undying
support for the country during the African cup of nation at that time. So when
i stepped into the industry i thought about getting a name for myself. Since I
was already popular with "Morocco" so i kind of reframed it which i
took only the consonants MRC and after sometime i got the idea of spelling each
letter i. e M (em), R (ar) and then C (cy). Which then resulted to EMARCY and
then Isah EMARCY
GW – Tell Us about your Music.
Emarcy- The kind of
music i do is called Nasheed, in other words Islamic songs. So basically what i
do is passing the message of Islam.
GW – Which of your song is your Favourite?
Emarcy- "Hasbunallah"
The song is
soothing, especially the refrain. It tickles me whenever i listen to that point
(smiles) plus i feel this connection with my creator. Love the content and the
rhythm
GW - Can you describe your family response to you
choosing Music as a career?
Emarcy- Well at
first they didnt like the idea especially when i was on circular. I remember my
dad tearing my lyrics book and stuffs like that. But my persistence got to a
point that explained to them that am not backing out. Though there support
began to surface after i recorded "Rasulullah" and switched to this
new style of music (Nasheed).
GW - Which famous musicians do you admire?
Emarcy- Quite a few
but at the moment Sami yusuf is rocking my world
The guy is just so
good, he knows just how to deliver in a way that is inspiring. His content
good, progressions amazing, and when ever he sings there is this passion on his
face that tells you he is singing from his heart.
GW -Any album yet?
Emarcy- Well am
currently working on my album which is titled "Turn to Allah". It
should be ready before the year runs out.
GW – Which artistes have you worked with?
Emarcy- Well The kinda music i do is very rare
especially in this part of the world. There is basically no outstanding artiste
that is famous for this kinda songs. So for now its strictly me, unless Allah
wills it and i feature the likes of Maher Zain and Sami Yusuf.
GW - What inspires you?
Emarcy- My primary
source is Allah (SWT) and then my environment.
GW - Do you get nervous before a performance?
Emarcy- Well
honestly when i started i use to be, but now i ve overcomed it
because this is
what i know how to do best and what i enjoy doing. So whats the point getting
nervous.
GW - What advice would you give to beginners who
are nervous?
Emarcy- It’s all
about believing in yourself. Ones you believe deep inside of you that you have
something to offer fears goes away. So believing in oneself is a great
foundation.
GW - How often and for how long do you practice?
Emarcy- Well
personally am a perfectionist, i am not the type to believe something is
perfect. So i always put in extra energy to make perfect more perfect (gigles).
Thing is I give rehearsal most of my time.
GW - Are you married?
Emarcy- Nah am not.
GW - Girlfriend?
Emarcy- Now thats

GW - What other Job do you do apart from Music?
GW - What’s your message to your fans out there?
Emarcy- They should
believe in themselves, never give up on your dreams. Work hard prayer and you
would surely get there.
